You know how we just bought a house, right? Well I was getting a little sick of just counting the days til we move in (we're at 70 now), so this week I tried to pack my schedule with so much crap I would forget what day it was. And... success! It totally worked. I not only forgot about my countdown, I forgot what day of the week it was. I spent Wednesday through Sunday at the Tanenbaum Opera Centre working for Luminato. Spades directed by Robert LePage was showing there. While I wasn't at the theatre, I tried to cram in a couple other events.
Here are my photos from that week:
Top Left: This was basically my uniform for the week. Black top, black scallop skirt, black tights and my flats with the leopard print bow.
Top Right: Friday night we went up to the top floor of the Sherton to see the Luminato Artist Lounge. The view was incredible and Rufus Wainwright was there, or so I'm told. I'm not a good celebrity spotter.
Middle Left: The inside of the Tanenbaum. So much exposed brick, yum.
Middle Right: This is part of the lovely neighbourhood around the theatre, called Old Toronto. Lots to look at.
Bottom Left: For some reason Old Toronto is packed with furniture shops. I walked by these neon orange chairs everyday and now I want want WANT!
Bottom Right: Here's a sneaky photo of the stage. I say sneaky because I'm not sure if I was allowed to take it. The whole stage was more elaborate and complex than I could have imagined. I mean, holy trap doors and moving pieces. If you ever get a chance to see Spades, I highly recommend it. Even if you're not a 'theatre' person, there are several scene changes that will make you think, "How the HECK did that happen?!?"
