The View from my Phone: Week 26

This week consisted of graffiti spotting, constant summer construction, painting strange creatures, vegan diner food, coffee cups as big as my head, and city lights. It's also week 26, which means I'm officially half-way through this little project. Yay me!

Out for a Walk

The other day I went out for a long walk around the city. Nevermind that it was one of the hottest days of the year! My first stop was The Paper Place, which is such a fun store! I could easily spend hundreds of dollars in that store on notebooks, paper, books and pretty little paper treats. I restrained myself and left with a set of 3 beautiful notebooks.

Here are a few photos I snapped on my way.

The View from my Phone: Week 25

Week 25 means that I'm almost half-way through this project! I'm actually pretty proud of myself for sticking with it this whole time. Anyone who's done any kind of 365 project knows that it's really hard to keep it in your head for an entire year. Even though I'm only (not quite) half-way through, I have noticed a few changes:

  • Daily creativity (even just a tiny teensy bit) feels good
  • Taking photos is more of a habit now
  • I'm less camera shy (behind and in front of the camera)
  • My photos are getting better--or at least I think so!

Are any of you working on a 365 project? Would you like to start one? You know, it doesn't have to be January 1st to start!

Blank Pages

Lately I've feeling that I don't have a lot of creativity. Just this past week or so and it's been very frustrating. So yesterday, even though it was 42C (107F) outside, I decided to go for a walk. I took my camera with me and 2 hours later I came home feeling sweaty but much better. While I was out, I also picked up a much needed new sketchbook and 3 adorable notebooks. Now I have all these blank pages to fill! Does anybody ever get anxious about the first thing they draw in a new sketchbook or write in a new notebook? I do. I remember when I was younger I used to rip out the first few things I drew because I never thought it was good enough to be the first page. If you look at my old sketchbooks, you can see that the first few pages are gone. What a weirdo, right?

I'll work on my first drawing in the new book today. And I'll try my best not to tear it out!

On my walk I also took about 100 photos. Those will be in an upcoming post.
