I've been completely obsessed with home decor lately. As you may know, my husband and I are planning on buying our first house this year. The thought of being able to decorate a house from top to bottom is so exciting since we've been renting for so long. There's only so much you can or want to do with a rental.
My focus has been going to solid, neutral basics that can be a good starting point for a room. I've been looking for pieces that look great on their own and can easily adapt to many different decors and color schemes, since I'm impulsive and love to change things up regularly.
I thought I'd put together a little series where I'll start with a basic piece of furniture, and show you 4 different looks you can get just by changing up the accessories.
I've decided to start with the Blox Dining Table from CB2 because it's a nice basic wood table but the inset legs add some interest.
Look #1 isn't for people who are afraid of color. I would paint the walls a crisp white to avoid going overboard. The walls, chairs, and white dinnerwear set provide a nice clean backdrop for the more colorful accessories to shine. Add some interest to the place settings by slipping in one of the bright bird plates. The 2 large abstract prints bring even more fun into the room and will really pop against a white wall. I think the beaded chandelier and herringbone curtains tie all the colors together.
