Fruity Ice Cubes

Posted on March 20, 2012 and tagged DIY

Are you ready for spring yet? I know it's only March, but the weather has been amazing lately and since it's the first day of spring today I thought we needed a fun warm weather drink.

All you have to do is pick up a couple pints of berries at the grocery store, whatever is on sale or in season.

I love my heart shaped ice cube tray from Ikea!

Just toss the berries in the blender until they are completely puréed. I did each kind seperately, but a mix would be nice too.

Next I strained out the seeds, because I didn't want seedy ice cubes, and poured them into my ice cube trays.

After a few hours in the freezer, you'll have brightly colored fruity ice cubes. They taste great in simple, clear drinks like a Vodka Tonic. Or just add them to some soda water.

As they melt, they'll color your drink a bright pink and add a little sweetness.

Tip: The blueberry ice cubes didn't turn out as pretty as others. I thought they would be purple, but they were more of a burgundy.
