We Bought a House!

Don't you love that part at the end of Property Virgins where the couple talks about losing their 'property virginity' and everything they say is so funny because it sounds like they're talking about their actual virginity? They say stuff like, "It was totally painless." or "I'm glad I had my dad there to help me." HAH! Well, my husband and I lost our propery virginity this weekend and it was awesome. We've been together almost 10 years now, so it was about time we do this! (hee hee hee!)

Here's a photo of the adorable little house we fell in love with.

It's the perfect starter home; it's small but not too small and really nicely maintained. We have a private fenced yard and it's on a quiet little dead-end road. The plan on the weekend was just to see what was out there in our price range and get a better idea of what we wanted, but this one was just too perfect to pass up. The closing date isn't until August 27th, so we have some waiting to do. But I'm sure it will go by so fast!

Wow, that was one of the most beautiful Victoria Day long weekends I can remember. The weather was just amazing! We were very busy all weekend and in a couple days I may have some big news to tell you. Hint: If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know what we were up to this weekend.

Here's some beachy color inspiration for you today. That should hold you over until I can tell you the news. I know you're on the edge of your seat!

The View from my Phone: Week 20

Well I think I got a few good shots this week! I found those cameras in the window of a pawn shop that was having a Closing Sale. I was tempted to go in a check them out but they were all covered in a thick coating of dust and the store looked really sketchy! One of my tissue paper flowers had to be sacrificed so that Marshall could chew on it. And I'm just totally in love with that photo of Barney. Would you look at him? Doesn't he look like a little kitty model there? He's such a handsomeface. Did you know that's where the name of this blog came from? Well now you do.

Caturday: Sunny Day

If you live in Canada, you know it's the Victoria Day long weekend here. It's typical for Canadians to bust out shorts and sandals before the last snowflake has even melted. I'm guilty of this to some degree. But one Canadian tradition I've only been a part of once is camping on the May long weekend. It's always, always, always freezing cold and rainy. All the photos from that camping trip show us in winter jackets with the hoods up trying to look like we're having fun. But this weekend is the first one that I can remember that the weather is actually supposed to be beautiful. I thought this sunny photo of Marshall was appropriate.

Here are some links to brighten your weekend. Get it? Brighten?

  • This is why bears make terrible photographers. They keep eating the equipment!

  • I made these Flourless Zucchini Brownies from Delighted Momma this week and she wasn't kidding, they are the BEST brownies ever. I substituted 1/4 cup of unsweetened apple sauce for the egg to make it vegan and then I literally ate the whole tray myself. Not kidding at all, the entire tray.

  • This tutorial from A Beautiful Mess will show you how to make a gorgeous lace and denim shirt.

  • And if you need more Caturday, head over to Michael Kloth's Etsy shop and check out his adorable kitty portraits.
